What happens when a driver is reported to DOL by an MRO, BAT or Motor Carrier for a confirmed positive drug or alcohol test?

When DOL receives a report of a positive drug or alcohol test, the department will disqualify the driver from driving a commercial motor vehicle.

What is required to re-qualify for a CDL after a positive test result disqualification?

The driver must submit a "Substance Abuse Professional's (SAP) Assessment/Treatment Report" completed by a Department of Transportation qualified SAP. The report must indicate that the driver is either satisfactorily participating or has successfully completed a drug/alcohol treatment or education program. A re-qualification fee of $150.00 is required in addition to any licensing fees.
