It's possible. I saw a man dive underwater once in a large lake, but never reserfaced, and I was there all day (there's been no report of finding a body or anyone missing in that area, and it was years ago). I can't explain it. Oh and Owwyfun - they have a body of a dead giant squid in the Smithsonian Museum.

No, but manatees do. Some people have suggested that they are the basis of the mermaid myth. But really, it's kinda hard to see looking at a manatee and walking away with an image of a beautiful long haired half naked/half fish woman.....

mermaids are a myth. This all started when sailors on ships got really intoxicated and saw manatees, you know, the gray whale-type creatures that are often killed by boat propellers. The drunk sailors and or pirates thought they were mermaids. Gotta love hallucinations!

I hope they do! I hope there is a secret world in the ocean filled with different human like species that enjoy the water as much as we enjoy air! Of course fish and mammals that we do know about enjoy water as we do air but isn't the idea of human like beings existing down there fun anyway?!

I'd have to say it's unlikely, but we really don't know. We've never seen the giant squid, and scientists think THAT exists.
