how do i put a free podcast on my ipod?

i downloaded a video podcast and i went to edit-->preferences-->ipod-->automatically update all podcasts, and then i right clicked on my ipod icon and clicked 'update', but it still won't go on my ipod! why is that? what am i doing wrong?

The most obvious answer would be that you don't have a video iPod. As you probably know you need the newest iPod version to play video podcasts. If that isn't the problem, did you download the podcast in iTunes or from another site? If you got it through another site it may not have made it into iTunes. You can add it by going to File-Add file to library-then browse to wherever it's saved on your computer. Once it's in your library you can just drag it onto the iPod. Perhaps it's trying to find new episodes to put on your iPod and there aren't any newer ones.

Those are the only things I can think of off the top of my head. I hope this helps. Update if you have any further info and I'll try to figure it out.
