Hundreds of reasons:
1. We feel before we think. This is the source of 'gut instinct' or other reactions that are not logical or rational but are every bit as real or accurate as mathematical calculations.
2. Other people are certainly paying attention to yours... usually for all the wrong reasons. If you understand your own feelings, it decreases the likelihood of them being used against you.
3. Feelings are not leftover appendages from back when we dragged our knuckes while walking. Feelings are vital parts of what makes us human. Paying attention to them is every bit as important as paying attention to your hair or breath or bank statement... moreso, for at least one of those...
4. Robert A. Heinlein observed that those who "love Nature" yet despise the "artificialities" of man-made structures are usually demonstrating a profound self-hatred. If these sorts were honestly paying attention to their own feelings, they might have started a different social movement...
5. You can argue facts, but you cannot argue feelings. That is to say, if you can disprove someone else's assertion about the chemical composition of a particular brand of beer, then you are free to do so and then go on to produce documentation. On the other hand, if you find a particular piece of artwork to be profoundly moving while someone else thinks that it's derivative trash... you are both right, because it is how you feel.
6. If your logical mind and your physical body and your emotions are in accord... your capabilities suddenly vastly exceed your previous expectations.
And so many others.

You should pay attention and be aware of feelings because your feelings may save your life, while on the back end your feelings may lead you in the wrong direction or even be wrong! You should be aware of your feeling so you will know when and when not to trust them!

1. The sense by which the mind, through certain nerves of the body, perceives external objects, or certain states of the body itself; that one of the five senses which resides in the general nerves of sensation distributed over the body, especially in its surface; the sense of touch; nervous sensibility to external objects. "Why was the sight To such a tender ball as the eye confined, . . . And not, as feeling, through all parts diffused?" Milton.
2. An act or state of perception by the sense above described; an act of apprehending any object whatever; an act or state of apprehending the state of the soul itself; consciousness. "The apprehension of the good Gives but the greater feeling to the worse." Shak.
3. The capacity of the soul for emotional states; a high degree of susceptibility to emotions or states of the sensibility not dependent on the body; as, a man of feeling; a man destitute of feeling.
4. Any state or condition of emotion; the exercise of the capacity for emotion; any mental state whatever; as, a right or a wrong feeling in the heart; our angry or kindly feelings; a feeling of pride or of humility. "A fellow feeling makes one wondrous kind." Garrick. "Tenderness for the feelings of others." Macaulay.
5. That quality of a work of art which embodies the mental emotion of the artist, and is calculated to affect similarly the spectator. Fairholt.

To feel is to be human. To not feel is to be a machine. Machines do not socialize. Machines do not have families. Machines do not have friends... Imagine a world with no family, no friends, no love, no fun.
Ok, and sometimes you do not do what your feelings tell you to do. When you do that, when you sacrifice something, you do for a greater purpose that you like. You like it because of feelings. I say this because what I think you were thinking when you asked this question is: "Feelings do not let you be rational. Why should I pay attention to feelings than?" What I'm trying to say here is that you are rational because of feelings.

"Oh my G-d i crave yours! I can understand perfectly, why you ask this question. Feelings are such a rocky road to base decisions upon that many people desire to stear-clear of irrational responses which lead to pain, anger and retribution. I think you might be a scientist because scientists utilize the scientific method to study their discoveries and conivances leaving feelings far behind; however, most scientists rely on their feelings to help determine in which direction they will dedicate their lives and forunes to.
Personally, I have found (like most other people) that a combination of feelings and method have evolved in me to the point that I can look for truth, avoid mistakes and pain of bad decisions with the healthyest combination of the human decision making process."

You have five senses. Feeling is one of them. Emotional feelings are internal sensations that are giving you messages. Sometimes to protect you from bad situations.
Perhaps you could think of an example of someone who doesn't have emotion or feelings. If you envy their life balance perhaps you don't need to pay attention to feelings???

You don't have to but to be friend with someone you should! it shows you care about them and will lead to healthier relationships.
I pay attention for that reason alone and i know i have feelings something you really can't control 100% it's how you feel just like if you touch something soft it's soft and if you touch something hard you may get hurt!
Plus feelings make you strive for things!
if your feeling excited your going to keep going
if your feeling sad with hope you can get out of that and try not to return
Mad luv

1. It prevents a lot of hurt from occurring. Kindness goes a long way.
2. Friends & associates eventually avoid, or eliminate 'Could Care Less' (CCL) people from their activities. Who wants to be around someone socially uncouth?
3. Someone asked a question about why people gossip. CCL people give gossipers plenty of material.
