Pride, like all things, is best in moderation. Taking pride in doing a good job or being proud of your accomplishments is fine as long as you realize that their is always a way you can fail and that their is always someone better than you. Foolish pride is a pride that has no doubt and it is this pride which comes before a fall.

i think you can be prideful---to a certain extent. i mean, you shouldn't make yourself feel like a lowly layman just because the bible says pride is a sin.
the right amount of pride is to be proud, but keep your yap shut. if you go around spouting words like, "oh i am soooo the smartest and i will do better than you at everything!" then that's pretty much a sin...

Too much pride is also one of the worst things about a person. Too much pride is also ignorance, and causes a person to be selfcentered.
some pride is good, but knowing the limits is better.

When we talk about pride, we talk about an overweening arrogance that this was the greatest job ever done by a human and I did it, and you wave your accomplishment under everyone's nose.
You can take pride in a good job without having it be an endzone dance.

self respect and pride are two very different things and you can still take pride in your work and be humble at the same time

No, having too much normal pride is a sin.
The bible teaches you to be humble.
Im not even christian, and i know this.
But then again, not to flame you, thats the reason the bible is tricky.
Its double sided.

WRONG ! Yes, you are right when you say that pride is a sin. I think what you are saying is having self-pride. And, there's nothing wrong with that. REMEMBER SELF-PRIDE !

I take great pride in my shame. It has been cultivated and fermented to an exquisitely fine shame that can outweigh any other.
