YES. Sisyphus was a character in Greek mythology who was lauded as one of the cleverest, yet most devious men in history, with a propensity for flouting the traditions of Greek hospitality by murdering his guests. He was eventually condemned after deceiving first Death himself and then Hades, Lord of the Underworld, in order to escape his inevitable demise. As punishment for his audacity, he was sentenced to be blinded and to perpetually roll a giant boulder up a mountain to the peak, only to have it inevitably roll back down the mountain into the valley.

I think the name of the poor SOB was Sisyphus. He was condemed to roll the boulder uphill and to always lose his grip before he reached the top. The curse of the never ending task

Yes; this is Sisyphus' punishment in Hades (the Greek version of Hell) for his trickery by the gods of Olympus. It's also come down in our day to refer to any impossible task.

Good to hear from you again!

Yes, Sisyphus, and he was doomed to that fate for all eternity in Hades. Here's a link with more information:

Sisyphus. Haven't you seen that Red Bull commercial? I think he served his kid to the gods, or...well, one of them did. I mean, his *child* kid, not his goat. He was punished with a fate appropriate to some kind of crime.
