You don't have conjunctivitis. You are most likely to have a foreign body in your eye and most likely an eyelash. As long as there is no pain from the cornea seen as the coloured part of your eye, there is no need to panic. Try lifting your lashes away from your eye and look in different directions. try blowing your nose.
If the discomfort remains in the morning ask an optician to have a look.

If it persists, there are two likely causes. 1. You have something in your eye (even if you can't see it) and the eye doctor will remove it. 2. You have an abrasion caused by one of many things (fingernail, foreign body, etc.). In this case the eye doctor will more than likely give you some lubricating drops (along with an antibiotic and an NSAID such as acular if its painful).

Is your eye red at all. I sometimes get this if a small blood vessel bursts which can happen but the irritation felt only lasts a short while, If it lasts go to your gp.

The Cornea may have been scratched. Wash the eye out to be sure there isn't anything in it then put a warm compress on it and relax it.

don't rub your eye and try to ignore it.. your natural tears will get rid of it. if it doesn't go away in a hour or two then you might want to ask around again because it could be something more serious.

it sounds like blepharitis which needs antibiotic eye drops and you have to use baby bath and cotton wool to bathe your eyelashes, as it sounds like an infection of the lower lashes, your gp or optition should know for definate.
