How do I start potty training? Be serious? Let her play? I have tried to look on the internet but they all say to wait until 2-2 1/2 yrs old.

We sure do know that EVERYTHING on the internet MUST be true so wait until she's 2-2 1/2. Just kidding, but really, hey if she's willing to learn then go for it. I would say get her a small potty and show it to her and tell her about it. My oldest child was about 18 months when he refused to wear diapers anymore, he was ready to start potty training when he was about 16 months old and he caught on quickly. I would say that you should let her decide when it's time. Don't be pushy about it (even though it's nearly every parent's dream to not have to change diapers anymore) if she feels like you're the one that wants it and she's not then she may regress instead of progress in learning to be done with diapers. Best of luck to both of you!

My cousin trained her daughter at a very young age also and she did very well with it. Just because the internet says she is too young doesn't mean nothing. They are just giving you an average age. There are many ways you can try to potty train her. I have heard of people buying them their own toilet and let them carry it around the house so that they know it is theirs and they are more apt to use it that way. Or you can find something that she really loves and reward her with it when she goes to the potty and make sure that she doesn't get this reward all the time but only when she goes to the potty. I have some great ideas for boys too if you had a boy.

I don't think it's too early . . if she knows to take the diaper off when it's wet, it's not too early . . . I would say that you should start sitting her on the potty like every hour or so, just so she can get used to sitting there and if she makes a tinkle, praise her, so she will know she did something right . . . and soon she will make the realization to use the potty . . I would agree that you shouldn't get your hopes up too high too fast . . but help her grow into the process and be patient!!

You can start, but don't get your hopes up yet, you still have awhile before she is completely ready. Is she in daycare? If she is a good center will not even consider potty training until she can verbally tell you she needs to go.

i think it's premature to tell if she's ready by this one sign. it could very well be that she doesn't like having a bulky thing wrapped around her bum and has now figured out how to take it off. that alone doesn't mean much. read up on what other signs are an indication of readiness.

that being said, it's possible that she's one of those rare babies who are ready for potty training this early, in which case you're blessed and go for it!

good luck!

It's never too young to start. As soon as they're old enough that they can sit up on the little potty by themselves, then you can start. Good luck, and maybe do some research online for the best techniques for doing this! :)

No, if you feel she's ready, try it. My niece was potty trained when she was 15 months. She's almost 18 now! It didn't affect her in any negative way.

i say shes too young. how can she tell you she has to pee when she cant talk. she has no concept of body functions at this age and no bladder control. you cant train a baby you just train yourself to catch them before they go. to much work involved let her be a baby. train her after she turns 2
