my brother has a 1999 grand cherokee with the straight 6 engine. We are trying to figure out this problem, hopfully someone can help. Here it is.
The truck starts and runs nice at around 900 rpm, but sometimes you will be driving along and for some reason, it wants to stall, and usually does. One time, I was doning about 60 mph, it stalled for a sec, but came right back ( i guess cause the engine was rotating enough to gain back its firing - i dont know). When it does stall, it will sometimes start right back up, but sometimes you have to let the truck sit, and come back to it. There is NO engine light on, i checked all the fuses, checked for short at the battery - in series with the neg terminal, there DOES seem to be a short ( i dont know if its related ) , the truck just hit 100,000 miles, we just replaced the crank sensor - that did nothing, I DID notice however when I drove it before, that the truck began to overheat.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be? Thanks

Crankshaft position sensor wiring, with vehicle idling, wiggle wiring harness from CKP sensor to main harness. Best way to catch problem is with DRB-III diagnostic readout box (chrysler, dodge, jeep) scan tool.

Dies going 40mph? Pull your alternator out and take it to autozone, have them try it. 70% probability it is your alternator. undesirable battery won't in any respect reason your motor vehicle to die jointly as moving.

it could be the timing, or possibly a fuel delivery problem
