I was just informed that I will be hosting a baby shower for my daughter and was wondering several different things...
1) Is it appropriate for the grandma to host the shower?
2) What are some fun baby shower games to play?
3) What are some prizes that can be awarded?
4) What to serve?
This is my daughter's first child and I have NEVER held a baby shower and don't know where to turn, so I am turning to you for any information you can give me.
I know that it is a boy and should I decorate in blue??? - - duh, I guess that was a dumb question:)
From what I can remember from baby showers that were given for me , there was food, games, prizes, and decorations. It's been 27 years since I had a shower and I know mine won't be perfect but I want it to be special.
ANY adivse is greatly appreciated for hosting this baby shower.
And I need to keep it under a budget.
Thank you all!!

Yes you can host grandma. Have a cake made with "baby boy ______" on it, whatever their last name is. You dont have to stick to just blue nowdays. Green, yellow, white, or even primary colors if you dont want to do pastel. Try red, navy blue, grass green and yellow. For games you can have everyone try to guess how big around moms belly is, closest one gets a prize. Also anyone caught saying the word "baby" must put a nickle or dime into a piggy bank, for babys savings. You can even use pennies. Hand out paper and pencil and have everyone list names of baby animals, as many as they can think of. Like what are baby foxes called? Kits. What are baby kangaroos called? Joeys. This is always fun. The person with the most answers wins. Prizes can be candles, lotion, bubble bath, manicure sets, stuff like that. Dont forget to get together with your other hostesses and buy the mom to be one big gift, usually a doozy like a crib or fancy carseat, you all share the cost. Food can be real inexpensive, like finger sandwiches, pinwheels, chex mix, jello molds, salad, fancy crackers with creme cheese. Have fun!

yes, the grandma can host,

games- guess a strings length to fit around the preggo belly, clothespin game (everyone gets a clothespin at the beginning of the party, and if you're caught saying certain words, ie baby ect. then the person who caught yougets your clothespin and the person with the most pins at the end gets a prize)

prizes- journals, picture frames, travel size lotions, anything

food- finger foods are best, little sandwiches, maybe a ice cream sundae bar (i did that for my sis and it was a hit), chips, ect.

decorate- blue, green, yellow, white

Good gifts are small candle sets, bath/shower gels, small tokens like that. There should be a cake at the baby shower, a nice veggie tray is good. I hope it's a blast!

I wouldnt worry about it not being appropriate for the grandma to host it. My mom and best friends hosted mine. Good luck!
