Try glycerine suppositories, or maybe an enema. It sounds rather disgusting, but they do work. The suppositories have to have some time to work, but once they do, you will have "sweet relief." Try to relax, as well.

Are you taking prenatal vitamins with iron? I had the same problem, and my doctor took me off the prenatal vitamins.

Talk to your OB-Gyn about the constipation. Hopefully, the suppositories will work for you.

Well I am 21 weeks and I did not realize that I haven't had a BM for 10 days. I called my midwife and she said to buy a tea called Sennate Tea, and drink one cup of tea every night, and also try prune juice(can't stand that juice), and to also try eating food with bran in it. Before I could try any of those things I had a BM on the 10th day. I usually go 5 days without a BM but not 10 days. But at the same time I was not in pain. Since I've been pregnant I've been constipated, I stop taking the iron pills about 9 weeks into the pregnancy because I thought that was causing the constipation.

It's a very common side effect.... ask your doctor and they might have more suggestions...Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting" by Heidi Murkoff. It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck

Don't push too hard becuase it can cause hemoroids. It really sucks huh! I am having the same problem and it just started about a week ago I am now 21 weeks and havent had a chance to ask my doctor. You should definelty call and talk to him if you are taking prenatals then it could be the iron in the pill making you stopped up. Just call and see what he says...... Congrats!!!!

I had that problem and you could try adding olive oil into your foods your eating or just drink 2 tablespoons( if you can stomach it) plus a suppository .where you find stool softeners help but if all else fails call a pharmacist. Then keep fiber in your diet and drink plenty of water.Good Luck with your baby

Call the doctor. He/she will know what to tell you to do. DO NOT JUST SIT AND PUSH HARD. Hemorrhoids are bad enough from delivery, don't make it worse now. TRUST ME ON THIS!!

Go to your doctor asap, this is not good for you or baby, you could cause some serious problems for both of you.

Don't laugh, but when you are sitting on the toilet, bend foward, as far as you can...and then try. P.S. Sleeping on your left side helps with digestion and all that.
