i recently had my annual pap test with my gyno, and my family doctor called and wants to see me regarding my test. Apparently there are some abnormal cells down there. I am freaking out...what does that mean?

This has happened to me twice and nothing came of it. The test came back off because I just got off my period.

it can mean a number of things. don't freak out just yet. could be as simple as having a bacteral infection when the test was done. that can cause abnormal cells. do a search online for pap test results it can explain it a lot better thats what i did when i got my first one back abnormal.

Sometimes this can mean you have a yeast infection, sometimes it can mean your body going through some kind of change, There are all kinds of different reasons for this. These results are not always something bad or life threatning, so don't be so scared. The first thing you need to do is schedule another appointment to see your doctor as soon as possible to diminish any anxiety on your part.

It can be a number of things. Sometimes they don't get enough cells and will mark the box "abnormal" that happened to me. Just don't panic yet see the doc again. If you have one done regularly than whatever it is I am sure they can heal. I hope all is well with you.

might mean a lot of things, don't worry yet. Your GP will give you more details, I don't know what to say without the actual test results.
Best case: small change in the configuration of the cells, nothing to worry, will be kept under observation.
Worst case: cervical cancer. Don't worry, can be cured.

usually this is the only thing that causes a abnormal pap smear...Cervical cancer is a common, sometimes fatal disease. It is now known that human papilloma virus (HPV), also the cause of genital warts, is the major cause of cervical dysplasia,,,

Abnormal, but not necessarily cancerous at this time.

that means that you could possibly have HPV a sexually transmitted disease. it can go away on its own, or if it develps it can cause cancer in the cervix.its not the end of the world
