I live in nothern Illinois and always, always right before and during the first couple weeks of school, I have a horribly stuffy nose! What is in the air and what can I do to stop it?!? Any vitamins or foods that might help...a type of kleenex...

yea, well I knew it was allergies, I was looking for what kind of plant it was. Most people said ragweed. That was what I was mostly looking for.

What will help is Sudafed for your stuffy nose and either OTC Claritin or you'll need a prescription strength antihistamine. Benadryl is also a good antihistamine, but it knocks you out cold. Not many, if any, vitamins will help.

Yes, I'd say allergies. Illinois, late summer...I'd say grass pollen and weeds like ragweed. Take loratadine (Claritin, Alavert are brand names, but generic is way cheaper) daily. Drink lots, and shower and change clothes after spending a lot of time out doors, b/c pollen can cling to your clothes even while indoors. Take Sudafed for stuffiness. My dad does the same thing every year...

Allergies?

Sounds like allergies to me. Are there specific kinds of flowers or trees that are blooming right now near you?
Try getting apitherapy honey. It's raw honey. See if there's a place like a local health food store that stocks it. It's yucky, but it's supposed to help with allergies. And you should make an appointment with your doctor, too, to see what specifically you could be allergic to.

Its just your allergies acting up beacause the wheather and temperature are changing. I have the same thing and I live in Indiana. It helps to take a benedryl pill. If your going to take before school, than buy a king that wont make you drowsy.

It is allergies, everyone has them...myself included. I just take daytime benedryl or any other non-drowsy over the counter allergy medicine.

Change in diet really won't help out. Just carry some kleenex in your pocket in case you need them.

Ragweed allergies--I have had them most of my life this time of year here in N. Ohio.
I take Benedryl and that does help, but thankfully they are not now as severe as when I was young.
Hope you feel better soon.
