Sure. You can have as many free ones as you can keep track of and up to 5 from your ISP, usually.

Yes. There are tons of sites offering free e-mail on the web (e.g. yahoo). And all the sites offering free e-mail allow you to register as many as you want. The question shouldn't be "is it possible?" The question should be "(what) do I need it (for)?".
But there are several good reasons to have more than one e-mail address. Such as:
one for work
one for private stuff
one for handing out to sites that force you to register
one for using as a pure online identity when you don't want your friends (or future employers) to be able to google you
...and so on.

Yes you can have as many as you like, I have three, they are all the same before the '@' but different after eg: yahoo, hotmail and my ISP and I use them for different levels of security!....but take care to remember all the addresses and passwords, lol

You can have as many as you want. Depending on your email program you use, there may be limits to how many you can have under your account, but you can have email accounts (with different addresses) under several different email companies. I have one with my internet provider and one with Hotmail.
