Does anyone the best location to find a list of out of print movies? Would I have to go through individual production companies? I am looking to purchase the rights of some out of print movies and do distribution as a side business/project. Thanks for your assistance.

Interesting question! Some people, to some degree, own the rights to movies when they own a print of it.

The copyright clearinghouse can give you tips on how to find a movie's owner, and when a movie is due to go into the public domain. Owners can renew their ownership, but when they forget or don't care to bother, the movie goes public domain.

Foreign movies are more complicated.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 wanted to put out their episode with the movie Amazing Colossal Man, but the owner thought the movie was worth something and wouldn't allow it.
