I would say look up your local youth football organazation and see if you can get some coach's phone numbers and team names. I would sort them out by which teams you actually think you could make or get a mascot costume for. Then im sure any coach you contact wouldn't mind having a team mascot.

It's too early. At my school, the mascot position is basically a volunteer. He doesn't need training. Maybe he'll grow out of it.
