You can't say their offense. I mean they have promising talent. Carl Crawford, 100% future all star, Rocco Baldelli, robbed the ROY from Angel Berrora, Jorge Cantu, 28 HR, 117RBI last year, Jonny Gomes, BJ Upton.

Their pitching has Scott Kazmir. They'll make trades in the offseason.

Their defense is definetly improving. Its tied for 8th in the AL.

I mean, will they always suck, I'm a die-hard fan of Boston, and I hate the always beating us so them getting better wont help. But I just want to see them in the Postseason.

First off, I'd have to disagree with one of your player evaluations. Carl Crawford is a superstar, but I believe that Rocco Baldelli is the most overrated offensive player in the AL. His horrid .327 OBP this season is one point higher than what he did in each of his first two years, and I don't think he'll ever develop any patience at the plate. He's fun to watch sometimes, but he's not a good player.

As for the bigger question, the best thing that could happen to the DRays is a complete change in their front office. Chuck Lamarr is a horrible GM, and the ownership likes to pinch pennies. Throw a bad stadium into the mix, and you've got a recipe for being unsuccessful. They could do well in the future, but I think off-the-field changes need to be made first.

The problem is is that they won't hold on to their promising talent. Low fan base, low TV revenue, etc. means they don't have the money to spend to keep their stars.

So those players will put themselves in a position to get a big free-agent contract, which will be bid on by the 5 - 8 teams that can afford to pay it, and most likely will go to the two teams who endeavor to outspend each other annually in their strangely homosexual relationship, the Yankees and the Red Sux.

In the absence of a salary cap and revenue sharing, a team like the Devil Rays has no chance to keep its promising talent. They're acting as a farm club for the big spenders.

It's hard to say if they'll always suck... the Expos did... I was at one of the Boston/Rays games a week or so ago in Tampa, and they flat out have the Red Sox's number... Tampa has a lot of young talent, but they don't have and haven't ever had enough money to be competetive in the AL East. They are a small market team, with minimal support in a crappy stadium that was built 20 years before they even existed. The game I was at had twice as many Red Sox fans as there were Rays fans there... Who knows... I hate to see the young talent wasted there... I want them to be good too.

possibly. it truly is a not person-friendly call. They do have some good youthful pitching and hitting. inspite of the undeniable fact that the commute time table might want to be brutal. that they had continually might want to be flying out the west coast. Or might want to they honestly flow out west? i'd recommend Vegas, Portland or possibly Southern California. they do no longer have adequate communities down there. they may be the l. a. Rays of Burbank. or possibly they could play on the bottom of that enormous effect crater in Arizona. might want to the dry air % up the therapeutic procedure in Baldelli's limbs? There are merely such an rather good type of inquiries to be responded.

I'm a Boston die-hard too (Since birth) however, I spent my high-school years living in Charleston, SC (the home of the Devil Ray's farm league). The Charleston Riverdogs actually have some promising talent that eventually may make the Devil Rays not the worst team in the league.

I don't think so. Like you said, they have a bunch of great players and they're going to make trades during the offseason. They'll be contenders soon enough. It might not happen for another 5 or 6 years though.

The Rays are like the Phillies. Ownership is not willing to spend money to put a first class product on the field. Yes, they have a few blue chip players but not enough to challenge for a championship.

They need a new front office. Once they get some management who will spend the money to win, and spend it wisely they can start turning themselves around. Hell, if the Red Sox and the White Sox can do it anyone can.
