It depends on your bills. If you have over 5 credit cards and are having trouble making the minimum payments you can go to certified credit counseling. They will consolidate your bills by working with the credit card company. They can arrange it so you pay mostly principal and sometimes no interest.

Real easy. First get rid of cable, and the other extras that you spend money on. Second, do not spend more on your credit cards. I tend to go on binges with my credit card. I will use it for a month buying things that I think that I need or I want than I will not use it again until it is paid off. I paid off my car this summer and have no plans of replacing it soon even though it has no AC and I live in Oklahoma. I also never have and will never put the minimum payment towards a credit card. That is the most stupid thing to do.

Before going to an external source, set up a budget. Cut out all the unnecessary items and start putting all the money you can toward your debt. It will not be easy, but the pain you suffer will likely teach you a good lesson to not get into debt again. Listen to Dave Ramsey's radio show a few times. Many people call in with excessive debt as well as people who've beaten the debt monster.
