Never go along like you have been if you don't find it fulfilling. Life is just too short for that. You said you are interested in earning extra money, so why not stay at home and run a business from there that will keep you as busy as you want to be as well as creating leverage and residual income?
I run a home business with a product that literally blew me away. I started sharing it with a few people that I knew needed it and pretty soon I had a business off the ground. Every day is exciting for me now as I train others to do what I have done. I have so many options as well. There are phone calls I can tap into to learn more, I can call the founder of the company with questions, and my group is on MSN so if one person isn't available to help you, others are. We only market one product and it is helping people in so many ways that you just can't help but enjoy it. We have a compensation plan that pays better than any other in the industry, I started earning money my 2nd day. It is not unusual for people to earn in excess of $10k/mo with this if they really put their mind to it.
Something to consider.

Do you see opportunities for you to do something? Take the lead! Get off your butt and either put together some ideas of additional work you can do, or simply do it! The boss will see this... and you will be known as the go-getter....but watch out you may become so busy... that you begin to complain about that!

Stay with it! Keep the desk straightened, clean the phone once a week, ask for a little bit of work. Once they see your potential, they will give you more work. They're lazy right? They'll give it to you knowing it will get done.
Unless, you truly aren't happy, then leave.

I am a circuit designer for AT&T. Business has been slow, and there aren't so many circuits for me to design. I pretty much just check my email and cruise the 'net. If this were just extra money for me, I would go get it somewhere else. Unfortunately, this is my full time gig, and so I am stuck with it for a while.
Good luck.

Perhaps you could bring along a book or homework (if you have homework). You could draw or write. Expand your mind if you have that much free time at your work. Just remember that the work involved in the job would have to take priority over the work you bring along.

Ask them what else they would like you to do, tell them you have some downtime between tasks and that you are interested in helping out more.
