This happens because you have sensitive skin and, most likely, pseudofolliculitis. Shaving or waxing can cause these bumps. Some people may not experience irritation if they use special shaving creams or gels or if they have their genital area waxed. You still may have irritation, redness, and bumps no matter what products you use. Also keep in mind that some products can cause yeast infections.
Here are some tips that may alleviate your suffering:
1. Always shave with a brand new razor.
2. Do use a product intended to decrease irritation, knicks, etc.
3. I'd avoid products that numb the area.
4. Soak in cool not hot water, taking a bath instead of a shower.
5. Afterwards, do not rub the area with a towel. Pat or air dry.

Actually a very cool trick is to use hair conditioner instead of shaving cream. it allows the razor to slide across skin better, and prevents knicks and cuts alot better.
First soak in a warm bath for at least 15 minutes to help soften the hair. Use a nice new sharp razor (i personally like to use a men's razor...the Mach 3 is great!) Go in tiny strokes (as opposed to when you shave your legs and use long strokes)...I typically go against the direction of hair growth....but some say it is better to go WITH the direction of growth (I just find that if you do, your area isnt very smooth when you are done). Once you have shaven all that you want to, exfoliate the area with a loofa and some body wash. When you get out of the bath...PAT the area dry...do not rub. You can either apply a gentle lotion (unscented preferrably...or else it will burn)...but I find that a very thin layer of vasaline or neosporin works better. Then wear tighter fitting undies for a while, so that the material doesnt rub and cause irratation.
And last but not least...do not scratch the area whenthe hair is growing back...this will only make it worse for next tme you shave. :)
Good luck.

Best place to shave is in the shower. All hair and shaving cream go right down the drain. The shower will soften the hair and make much easier to shave. Take your time, bumps can appear from a dull razor, always use a brand new one. You might use and electric clipper to clean the bulk of the hair and finish with the regular razor. Subsequent clearing can easily be done with Nair. Shaving genitalia has become popular in recent time, led by the porn practice. Porn likes it because actual penetration can be seen. It also helps with odor, hair soaks up odor and can hold it through washing. Be careful, you can make mistakes elsewhere and live with it for awhile. In the crotch it can be disastrous for some time.

That is a good question, and one I am still trying to conquer. I have actually found that dry shaving leaves less bumps as far as the bikini area goes, I also found a product, sally hansen i think, called "No More Bump". It looks like a medicated acne pad, but it actually contains moisturizers to relieve the skin of discomfort as well as moisturizing that area. Since I have been doing this, I can actually say, that I have less bumps than normal shaving.

Use an electric, that has attachments. Razors cut the hair at the skin line and pull the hair to cut it at an angle. it then pokes the skin causing the bumps.
The Remington titanium ,has a clipper to take down the long hair and a std. shaver to get stubble. The small head cuts the hair almost flat with the skin. +-$15.00
If your a girl 18+, come on over and I'll get those hard to get to places for you free. but no sex

Dont shave it. Use nair wax. I think it cost $7-10 and last forever. After you wax, your hair wont grow back for 4-6 weeks. It's worth and takes a few seconds.

You get the nasty looking bumps because you shave. You're not supposed to shave in this area...always, ALWAYS WAX.
