I have DSL but my laptop is wireless. I have a 2wire modem hooked to my old desktop with DSL but I can use my laptop wirelessly around the house. It's nice in my area because alot of restaurants and coffee shops offer free wi-fi. So I can still travel with my laptop! DSL is cheaper than wi-fi I think.

A properly setup wireless network is normally "better" for laptop users. The "base" device of this network is a Wireless Router or Wireless Access Point.

For access to the Internet, you'll need some form of Internet service. These are typically: DSL, Cable Internet, etc...

Good luck!

the following may seem off the wall to you, but some readers may understand what i mean. i use dsl. at times the wireless capability comes on automatically, as, for example, when the electricity goes off. when it returns, for some reason the wireless "turns itself on". i then, immediately, turn it off. o.k.--the vibe/energy/frequency coming off the wireless i find to be quite unpleasant and toxic. it effects how i feel and think. wierd, eh? i'm very sensitive to energies, and this is my response to it. low frequency electro-magnetics are not ideal for human consumption. while most people are not consciously aware of the "vibes", nor seemingly effected by them, some people are. in all events, conscious or not, i don't think being around them is a great idea. just my input :-)
