for shot put can you get good scholarships and things for college? i threw 41' 6'' as a freshman and it seems like no other freshman in my division can beat me... some older kids of course can beat me... but it seems like it comes really easy to me... idk if i should continue it because i like it but i seem like (not to brag or boast sorry if it sounds like it) i have done all i can and all i need to do is get stronger and stuff... but if its good for colleges and transcripts and scholarships and 41' 6'' for a freshman isnt outstanding and i can still do better ill still do it.... where there is a purpose and room to grow i usually attack it...

<-- Former shot putter, so I'm biased.

I threw about 34' as a HS freshman, ended up throwing 51' my senior year. If you can have similar improvement, you could end up throwing 55-58', which would get you at least a I-AA scholarship, probably a I-A school or three would be interested. Stick with it, get stronger, do what your coach tells you.

yeah, colleges are always on the lookout for good shotputters. 41'6" is pretty good for a freshman. and if it comes really easy to you then you can probably get better faster than others. what you need to do is get stronger, but also really focus on your core strength and your technique. Technique will make a good thrower better, and is what really seperates the top throwers from the rest. I wasn't strong, but I outhrew the strongest kid in my school every time our senior season, because i had much better technique. Stay with it as long as it's any fun for you, and if you really start to actually dislike it, then you'll know it's time to stop
