Just wondering if the roadkill seen on the street are actually successful suicide attempts by depressed animals as opposed to just mere accidents.

Well I'm not sure about other animals but I had a dog that tried to commit suicide.
I woke up one morning and there was this cute Little Pekingese dog sitting in my drive way.
I felt bad for her. She was dirty and shaking. But my dad said she might have a disease. So I just a small bowl of food and water outside the gate for her.
After I fed her she wouldn't leave. The next morning she was still there. My dad and I went out to the gate. My dad started yelling at her to leave.
Suddenly the dog gave me the saddest look I have ever seen.
She turned and walked right into the highway.
Where I live it's a 6 lane major highway. Diesels and people driving about 85 mph. She just laid down in the middle of the road.
I truly believe she was trying to kill herself.
I managed to stop a few cars before they hit her and got her. Cleaned her up and took her to the vet.
She's been with me ever since.

Becuase the people in the world build thier houses on the only land these animals have ever known as home so they try to find a new house and wonder out onto the roads or peoples homes in thier trash

Accident, because animals in the wild try to survive without us taking over their living spaces every now and then. That is why we have animal conservation in certain areas.

Animals don't intentionally commit suicide. They don't understand what a vehicle is.
I've seen birds fly down at the car....It usually means they are protecting their babies and they do it to humans as well.

I think the animals are clueless to what would happen to them if they cross the road... It really sad, for those driver's who can't see them are pathetic, pay more attention! I could have ran over 3 squirrels, 2 dogs, like 5 freakin cats, a deer, but i dodged all of them haha.

I guess there's gotta be a percentile of depressed deer, saddened squirrels and woeful woodchucks out there, but have you considered that some of these pavement pancakes might be , well...... MURDERED !!!!

suicide, I don't remember which comedian said it but it was on the blue collar comedy tour one of the guys was talking about hunting and shooting a deer and said he should just strap some headlights and a horn onto the bullet and the deer with jump into it's path! haha!

i think its both some animals in pain do it to die some do it crossing the road to the river
