In the automobiles of today plastic is used more often than metal(like in the cars of the 50's). I am curious if there is any reference as to the kind of plastics used in the making of inner fenders or as in a Saturn that has alot of plastic components. Plastic seems to be in almost every area of an automobile. From under the hood to the trunk in some models. I imagine that there are many different grades used in a car because of the different application specs. Where can I find out what kind of plastic is used for what?

Polymers have not been standardized like metals have. Development is still evolving.

Who knows? Why cares. Are you thinking of going into the plastic business or are you just curious?
