OMG...another cool 80s/90s question...I do remember that show. I loved it so much.

Gummi Bears also became the forerunner for Disney's famous Disney Afternoon timeslot, which gave way to classics such as DuckTales, Darkwing Duck, Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers, TaleSpin, and Gargoyles.

I have the theme song on my computer:

Lyrics:
Dashing and daring, courageous and caring
Faithful and friendly, with stories to share.
All through the forest, they sing out in chorus.
Marching along, as their song fills the air!

Gummi Bears!
Bouncing here and there and everywhere!
High adventure that's beyond compare!
They are the Gummi Bears!

Magic and mystery
are part of their history
Along with the secret
of gummiberry juice.
Their legend is growing.
They take pride in knowing.
They'll fight for what's right
in whatever they do!

Gummi Bears!
Bouncing here and there and everywhere!
High adventure that's beyond compare!
They are the Gummi Bears.
They are the Gummi Bears!

Gummi Bears, bouncing here
And there and everywhere;
Great adventure that's beyond compare,
They are the Gummi Bears!

They are the Gummi Bears!

Yes, they were a lot of fun to watch on NBC when I was growing up. Looking back, though, the Gummi Bears seem like Disney's attempt to imitate the Smurfs' success (and NBC's willingness to run the show didn't hurt either). Gruffi, Grammi, Cubbi, Sunni, Zummi, and Tummi Gummi -- and later Gusto Gummi -- as the hidden protectors of Dunwyn from Duke Ichthorn (sp.?) and other villains of their own made for a great, non-derivative show (except for one episode, "For a Few Sovereigns More", with a Clint Eastwood pastiche) that was bright and, in an increasingly graphic fantasy realm, quite different from anything on the beaten track in those days. You felt there was a layered back story there (there once were many, many Gummis long ago), and all you got were glimpses of it.

I leave you with three bits of Gummi wisdom:

Everything leaves tracks, if you know what to look for.

The [gummi berry] juice only works on humans once a day.

and I wish the giant was my size!

Thank you for giving me a great laugh; this made my day!

David

"High adventure that's beyond compare; We are the Gummie Bears".

Classic television.

God knows what they put in that juice of theirs!
