I have no idea what the difference is and can't seem to get a straight answer from anyone. Also which one is better to get? I am getting ready to transfer to another college to get my BA and I am deciding between two. The one gives a degree in teaching and the other a certificate. Can anyone please help me with this? Hope someone can help with my problem. Thank you in advance.

So if I get my degree I have to do what to be qualified to teach in a school? And a cert I can teach as soon as I graduate? Do you have to take that long test if you get either the degree or the cert? Or does one do away with the test? This is confusing.

Teaching degree is an acadaemic qualification and a certificate is
an authorization granted by the Dept. of schools to teach in schools.

A teaching degree is either a 4 or 6 year program. California requires a Masters. These degrees prescribe the classes you take.

A teaching certificate is what is given by the state to qualified individuals. Hopefully the University will prepare you and assist you in taking the exam to get a certificate.

So either college or university is hopefully giving you the same thing, one is just refering to the certificate you will earn by taking the State exam after you finish their course work and have the knowlege required to pass.

However in Texas, a person with a college degree can take the State exam and get a teaching certificate by simply passing the exam (without the college work).

Certificate and certification are two different things, so be careful.

The requirements to be a teacher vary from state to state. Generally speaking, you need a degree - meaning a Bachelors in Education or a Masters in Education. That means that you went to college and majored in Education, and passed all your classes.

Beyond the degree, you will also need certification. Certification comes from the state, not from a university. To get certification, you usually need to have the degree, plus some other requirements, including classroom experience (usually as a student teacher, which is usually part of your coursework anyway) and maybe special training in recognizing child abuse. If you are enrolled at a university as an Education student, the university will probably help you to make sure you've fulfilled all the requirements for certification. They will also help you apply for it.

You cannot teach legally without some kind of certification.

Now, when you say that the program you're looking at gives a certificate, you need to find out what that means. Some university programs offer a certificate INSTEAD OF a Bachelors. That means that you have not completed the requirements for a Bachelors, but you have taken many classes in your subject area. You cannot teach without at least a Bachelors degree, that's for sure. This "certificate" might be for people who want to be teaching assistants, school aides or preschool teachers.

On the other hand, by certificate they could mean that you will earn a Bachelors, PLUS teaching certification -- meaning that your program at the university will include all the necessary components for certification, and in the end they will help you to apply for and obtain certification.

What you need to do is call the Education department at your new university. Ask them specifically what is meant by "certificate." Is it instead of a Bachelors degree, or is it referring to state teaching certification?

Hope that clarifies things a little.

I am currently enrolled in a program to get my teaching certification. A teaching degree is basically saying that you met the requirements by the college and understand the science of education, but that does not give you the authority to teach in a school. A teaching certification is given to teachers who have passed the courses and tests necessary to teach in a school. Hope that helps.

faith is believing in some thing without seeing actual data or utilising reasoned good judgment. hence their fact is easily authentic.(the coaching a toddler to have confidence section) it rather is brainwashing in basic terms via fact the perception in God is for the enormous majority of believers. Creationism has no data and is against good judgment, in basic terms as faith is. faith is the muse of lack of information, yet most of the committed do no longer even understand this. maximum do no longer even know the definition of religion.
