I'm 39 and a nurse. I don't have any children or anyone to leave this house to. Is there any point to such a big investment or should I have just stayed in a cheap apartment?

Yes, it can still be a good investment, even without any heirs.

I'm 26 w/no kids and no plans to have any and I own a house! It's a great investment, and without children, it's the only tax write off you'll have. Buy the house, it'll make you feel so confident, much more than living in some cheap apartment. Don't worry about what's going to happen when you die, you won't be around to be bothered with it.

I just bought a house, but I do have a daughter, but I wasn't thinking about heirs when I bought the house, I just bought it because it was nice and I liked it and I can do what I want and all sorts of things that I couldn't do In an apartment. I have a friend that's in his 40's that lives alone in a pretty neat house, I don't see any reason why you shoudln't own one!

You never know what the rest of your life holds. Why pay somebody's Else's mortgage and have to follow their rules. Yes home ownership is much more responsibility, but it is yours and you can do what you like with it! Your house is an investment.....if push comes to shove you can always take out equity and use it if you ever get in a bind!

you may still have some children, or marry someone who has children.
If I were you I would even adopt or foster some unfortunate kids who need a safe shelter called home.

You could always leave it to a local church or some kind of charity.....

Just leave it to me, and I'll take care of it for you.
