Rainbows are a result of the refraction of light as it passes through the droplets of water in the air when it rains. As all the different colours of light (called the spectrum) have different wavelengths they can be split by things like a glass prism or...water. You can see them because although they may not exist, the light energy does and when this reaches your eye you see it as you see any other things the only difference being that you see other things with white light rather than all the seperate colours of light.

That's because light passes through the raindrops and cause light fraction to pass through it much like light through a glass. When it comes through the other side the light becomes broken up into spectrums breaking the white light down into the different colours it's made up of. Then you see the rainbow colors. It's more like an optical illusion. Like when you walk through a park on an evening and the sun shines through the trees, you actually see the sun beams, but they're not real to say you can touch them but your eyes see it.

Light, or more specifically visible light, includes every color we can see, with violets and blues on one end of the spectrum and oranges and reds at the other end. A rainbow is visible light broken into what we see as seven colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.

Remember: "Glass walls do a Prism make!!!"

Light reflects and refracts....inside the drops of water [typically]
SOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Rainbows therefore are "more" real than light..

you can see a rainbow when you couldn't see the light

They do exist. Its a cloud of fine water droplets that refracts the sunlight at a certain angle into its various colours.
Its the pot of gold that doesn't exist.

They do exist - it's water droplets that you see, the light refracts through them to make the pretty colours.

For the same reason that you can see a torch beam, it doesn't appear to exist either, but it must because you can see it.

Its a quirk that leads to a light show. The lights are in the visible spectrum, thus you see them.
