yes synthetic oil is better. But only because it is man made so there are no impurities in it. Crude oil when made into engine oil has to be filtered over and over. Therefore they cant get all the impurities out. But they get about 99.9% out. And with the new GF-4 specs and soon to be GF-5 in about 3 more years they are getting better and better. I run 3 Pennzoil quick lube centers and never recommend synthetic unless it is called for by the manufacturer. Like the Corvette example given above. I will not change the oil in a Corvette unless the customer knows and is willing to put Mobil 1 in. But for a normal car that does not recommend from the factory I would not spend the extra money nor do I expect my customers to do so.

Nothing special required to switch. It will use the same type of filter. Your better off using regular or synthetic blend because it's cheaper and will work just as well for you. Unless your driving something like a Ferrari, then you should use the expensive stuff.

synthetic oil is much better than regular oil. you have to understand the makeup of oil. basic oil doesn't wear out. the additives, viscosity improver's, viscosity indexer's,anti-wear agents, detergents, seal expander's all are gone after 3000 miles or less if driven in stop and go traffic. synthetic oils like Mobil 1 or Quaker state full synthetic have all these additives impregnated into each molecule so they don't wear out and you don't have to change your oil for at least 10,000 miles, all corvettes from 1998 on have to use Mobil 1 and they change it every 10,000 per general motors. I have a corvette and change it at 10,000 miles and my oil is not dirty with contaminants.
