I have installed Windows xp then, updated my xp to windows xp with sp2. But, for some reason I had to format my C drive. and I installed windows xp from cd. Now, from, My computer>properties , it showed that I had windows xp. But, in control panel, those, sp1, sp2 hotfix are there. When I tried to update from microsoft update again after formatting C drive and installed windows xp, it doesnt recognize that I do not have sp2. Rather, it showed, i have already updated to sp2.
Now, should I remove,those,sp1,sp2 hotfix from add/remove program, and again update windows to sp2. Will it be possible to update to sp2 after deleting sp1,sp2 hotfix??
Please, help me on this matter.

I think i dont have sp2 cause, i have checked it from right clicking "my computer"icon and then go to properties, there it shows i have Windows XP professional.
Also, when i had sp2 i saw there was a different firewall system in my internet connection. the IE was a bit different too.
now, from control box, i can see all the Hotfix of SP1, SP2, but, in reality, they r not working. Its windows xp professional which i have install after formatting my c drive. I have go to microsoft updage too. It check my computer, and showed i dont need to update my computer. It is updated. That is I have Sp1, SP2 in my computer.
Thats why i m asking, to again update from the microsoft update website, should i delete all the hotfix, and then ,try to update again, will it work?
and after formatting my comp, those little icon of updating windows has come to my tray. It installed something too.But it wasnt SP1,SP2.

I think its very strange that you reformatted your computer, but you still had the SP1 and SP2 hotfix updates on your computer. When you updated to XP on your computer, it is possible that your computer automatically updated SP2? Do you remember if it did an automatic update on your computer? Its a pretty long process since it requires you to reboot after EACH one you do. I dont think you are able to remove Windows updates from your computer. Once you do the Updates, windows does not allow you to remove them from your computer.

Try going to http://update.microsoft.com and then let microsoft scan your computer and check if you need an update. If there are no updates, then I honestly think you already have SP2 installed in your computer. I am curious as to why you think you dont have SP2....is there something you tried to install but it is asking you to install SP2?

Let me know.

Ewww...Thats a wierd one.
If it does not show you have SP2 then shows you have already updated then it maybe just a small issue to deal with the validation of the SP.

I would not suggest deleting them. Yes looks wierd with all the hotfixes but its a common thing.I do not believe deleting a SP1 hotfix will cause any problems since SP2 update covers everything SP1 did and more.

Good Luck
Feel free to send any messages regarding the issue.

hi, yes ,you can remove the Hotfix. i also recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:
