ok so if you really think about it human technology has really only advanced in the last 200 years or so. when i say technology i mean anything from steam boats to nucular power plants to cell phones to gas powered anythings, basically anything that has made our lives in this modern type of world easier. do you think that we would have been better off if we never developed into the society that we are today? with all of the technology stuff out there, cars, oil drilling, bombs going off left and right... if we never had the knowledge of all this stuff then do you think that the worlds ice caps would have started melting? if all this continues at this rate do yoiu think the world as we know it will exist say 500 years from now??? what are your thoughts on this topic...

I think the world will still exist but those people living on it will certainly have a lot of trouble.

Humanity adapts to just about anything. We have become the alpha species on this planet due to our ability to adapt and change our environment for our own means. In 500 years, I don't see that changing. Our would will surly be much different, but the human species will still thrive as it always has.

The technology question is a big one. Do I need a car so bad that I'm willing to destroy the planet for it? One person in the grand scheme of things only makes a marginal change in anything. However, when you combine to make 6 billion, you're going to make a change. Climate change is inevitable, and quality of life is important. The knowledge that we gain everyday has the power to change our lives and the world in a positive and negative way.

They say that when you look back your vision is 20/20, and that is true of this question as well. We know now what the repercussions of our actions are, but did not know in the beginning. Thanks to that knowledge we have the power to change. We have to always strive to better ourselves because even if the consequences are bad, at least we are not living in caves and dieing a 30 anymore.

don't worry about 500 years from now you probably wont live to see it. as far as technology goes the planet might be better off without it but we would not but then again it may be our technology that saves the planet from a much quicker death like an asteroid as far as the ice caps melting the planet has gone through many major changes before man including many land masses we now know once were submerged land masses move. the whole planet is a work in progress. surely much like the dinosaurs if we fail to adapt & roll with the punches we too will become extinct but i suspect some will survive maybe the planet needs to indescriminatly purge itself of most of us.... p.s. i love internal combustion engines

luv ur question. Of course we wont exist 500 years from now unless hundreds of scientists from all over the world put together a plan to stop all this catastrophe. if any body actually thought about what our earth would be like 100 years ago then we wouldnt be in such a messed up situation now. theres so much much green house gas in the atmosphere, if nobody does something about it and we continue our poisining of the planet, we'll eventuelly choke and sufficate our own exuast.

If you remember you earth sciences class then you remember that the world is in a constant state of change. We have had numerous ice ages and warming periods. The earth its self pollutes way more than we could ever imagine. Forest fires and volcanoes spew tons and tons and tons of pollution. Can we stop global warming, the answer is no we cannot. We as a people must be ready for it if we want to survive.

6.25 billion people explains a lot. (The current world population.) Demographic experts say the world population will expand to 9 billion circa 2050 before the population begins to shrink. Do we really need 3 more billion people in just 50 years?
