Im an mechanical engineering student and i advise you MIT and Stanford University in usa on the other hand in europe hamburg university and istanbul technical university is a good choice, but without studying hard there will be no success at all of them as a result if you trust in yourself about education and the college that you will go ,will be less important /and the issue is money, in some of european universities you dont have to pay money for your education (also in Germany,Turkey..) education is free..

Wow, I'm surprised no one mentioned Cal Poly, SLO.
Not only is it KNOWN for engineering but freshman work with NASA!
Cal Poly is considered the 5th best college in America. It's a State school but might as well be private with the grades and opportunites Poly gets.
http://www.calpoly.edu/simplythebest/simplythebest.html
"Also earning a top spot in the magazine's Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs – for schools whose highest degree is a bachelor's or master's – Cal Poly's College of Engineering tied with the U.S. Military and U.S. Naval academies as the No. 1 program at a public school. A number of College of Engineering programs also ranked high in the Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs in their individual specialty categories. Cal Poly's programs in computer, electrical, **mechanical**, and industrial/manufacturing were each ranked as the top program at a public university in their respective specialty categories. The civil engineering program ranked No. 2."
And guess what? Cal Poly being a state school, state prices. Whereas MIT is about 4x more. :-D

MIT but if that is out of your price or GPA range... San Jose State University is a great school for engineering too.
