I went shopping today with my mom and in a few stores I saw sculptures of snowmen, nutcrackers, snowglobes that played christmas music when you turn the knob, and sings to put on your front lawn that said things like: Welcome to the North Pole; Santa Claus is comin' to town!; and Let it Snow!!!!! Heck people it's only August!!! (have you seen this too?)

i know...like what the heck! I went into cox and they had christmas trees and presents and snowflakes and christmas musics and dolls and christmas signs up.....it is just august

This is not something new...They have always put out Christmas decorations before Halloween. You can't tell the store or stores what decorations to put out or when. I have seen several Halloween decorations but nothing about Christmas yet. Usually the Christmas items come out right after Halloween and is always out before Thanksgiving.
I happen to love the snow. Since moving to CA, I miss it terribly. But not in August..lol

Yeah, it's utterly ridiculous how early stores put out their decorations. Does anyone remember Halloween and Thanksgiving!!
It really does make me want to avoid all of the retail aspects of christmas, avoid gifts and trees, and just go to church and hang out with the fam. But I don't know...did they drink apple martinis in bethlehem??? I guess I can keep a few of the non-religious traditions!

Yeah, I went to the mall too and saw all kinds of things like that. I also went to Wal*Mart and saw all kinds of Halloween stuff out, and Halloween is 2 months away! Stores put stuff out too soon. We can't even enjoy what holiday it is before the stores are already for the next holiday.

This is ridiculous. Doesn't the season get earlier and earlier evey year. It is only one day out of the year for Gods sake. Stores will do whatever they can to get your $$$ so they are just trying to get you in the mood to spend.

Yep, yesterday I went to Sam's Club and saw that they have Halloween stuff out and Christmas stuff. Everything seems so commercial now and rushed. I don't like that.

Yes, I have! I work retail and it is ridiculous that every year Christmas gets pushed up more and more. Christmas isn't about retail, it's about the birth of Christ.

yes. i went to hobby lobby the other day and they already had thanksgiving and Christmas on the shelves and hey were putting more out! the same for Hallmark. I guess they want us to start spending early this year.
