That depends on the school. At the Universities I have attended, you had to petition to have a grade removed from your transcript, even if you took it over. Not only that, but you had to do it at a certain time before you graduated or else it would be on there forever!! It is really a pain in the butt, but you should at least try.
Ask your registrar, or the secretary in your department, they can tell you. Or look in your course catalog, it should also be in there!!

At most universities, you have to file a paper prior to retaking the class that requests the previous grade be dropped from your GPA if you improve the grade. This can only be done for grades below a C. Check with the admissions office or counseling center on your campus. Never fear to ask many questions as it is your education and sometimes you need to weed through proceedural red tape.

most colleges, if you have a C or better you cannot retake the class. If you have a D, F, or Incomplete you can retake the class and the new grade will replace the old grade(if it is better).

It is different for every school. For mine, it used to be removed. Now, I think it still is, but there is a maximum number of courses you can retake. After that, I think only the old grade counts.

Yes, if the grade is higher than the last--ex: If you had a D and you took the class over and made a A, it will replace the D with an A.

If you retake a college course, the grade from the retake will supercede the current grade.

You would have to supercede it. The lower grade will still show up on your transcript, but your GPA will not be affected by the lower grade. It will only show that you had received an "F" for example.

No unfortunately. You will forever be labled as a retard ( just kidding) But really your other grade will show but at least you'll average out the with the second grade and perhaps raise your GPA which is the primary focus.

Some colleges d f repeat policies but at my school is was up to 33 hours or roughly 2 semesters, so if you messed up in your first year you could try to fix it later.
