You shoudl also watch your intake of MSG (mono sodium glutamate)...this has been linked to birth defects. Fish with high levels of mercury (You can find a list of these online), soft cheeses liek Bleu and Brie...(they say that if you can spread it or cut it with a knife, then avoid it). If you eat lunch meat, cook it until it is steaming hot. Try to avoid artificial sweetners (like Sweet'n'Low or Equal or Splenda).

However, if you really looked into it and tried to stay away from EVERYTHING that was 'not good to eat during pregnancy'...you'd pretty much be drinking boiled water and bread. haha My doctor told me that as long as I eat in moderation than I can have whatever I want for teh most part. For example, be aware of what you are eating, and try not to eat ONLY things that are 'bad'...and if you do want some of that salad dressing that has MSG in it...have it...just dont have everythign else in your meal contain MSG as well.

Alcohol & cigaretts.
All other foods can be consumed in moderation, make sure they are fresh (even soft cheese, fish, lunchmeat, etc). There is nothing wrong with soft cheese etc, just they can infest bacteria easily if left out in room temperature or hotter. Otherwise, they are very nutritous.

Lunch meats, soft cheeses and wash all fruits. Make sure hot dogs are cooked and you can have the lunch meat but it must be microwaved.
