You could base your choice on a favourite player, your favourite part of the country, the style of play - just about anything. What I advise against is choosing a team simply because they're the best - you will be a glory hunter and no-one will like you!
The reason I support Liverpool is that I had a card game when I was five years old and the best player was Kenny Dalglish who played for Liverpool. I am now a die hard red.
I suggest you find a similarly quirky reason.
One thing you must do, above everything else - STICK TO THE TEAM YOU CHOOSE. Football fans don't change sides.

epl also call English Premier League.
One season have 20 football team in EPL .
That are play 38 match in one season .
After 38 match , at the top must is Champion and at the last three position team will be down to the English Champion League.
At the field , two yellow card in one match will out of game and the player will miss three game .
5 yellow card miss one match .
The player if have a goal and the player is take off he shirt , referee will give he one yellow card .
In this 6 years , the top 4 EPL team is
LIVERPOOL CHELSEA ARSENAL MAN UNITED
The top 2 team will play in UEFA Champions League Group .
3rd & 4th will play 3rd round UEFA first and than that are inside the group .
This year Chelsea & Liverpool is a strong team in this four football team .

Go for an underdog. Support Watford!! It will earn you more respect choosing a smaller team than one of the best (Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal).
Watford facts: Elton John supports them. They wear yellow. Our very young manager will go on to manage England. We have a future US international in Demerit...
And we need all the support we can get to stay in the best league in the world!

Manchester United is a good team. You can also google the league to see if there is more that you like to know.
I cheer for Manchester United and anyone that beats Chelsea.

You can go with the hoards and be a bandwagon jumper and go with Liverpuddle, Man Utd, Arsenhole or Chelski. I say go with Spurs as they have a history of playing attacking soccer and you can say you were onboard before they got good again.
