I would think it woud depend on where you live. Here in Alaska we have many tanning salons and most people do tan in the winter. They say it helps them "cheer up" . Since we have almost all day darkness in the winter it is very popular here. I would think that people in Califorinia dont go to a tanning salon much if at all. So I would advist to look into the business in your town. The only drawback would be that if you do not have the income to pay an employee you willl have to work it open to close and if you can do that finance wise...go for it.

I own a tanning salon. Just know that the summer months are slow and that you must budget for those months. I love my salon. It gives me the freedom I never had as a teacher or real estate agent. Good luck! My email is facs2004@yahoo.com if you have any other questions!

The comment you made about cancer and aging will eventually kick in with the public at the moment these type of businessess are doing well. Everyone wants that baywatch look. But the more the media harp on about skins cancers etc........it will end up having a knock on effect with this type of company.
