Hosting is not costly, as some people are trying to say. But you will not find what you are looking for free of charge. A domain will cost you about $6 anywhere you go, and hosting will be about $3 per month for good service with no ads. I recommend this provider (this is my referral link): http://www.1and1.com/?k_id=11001016 You really get a lot for your money with them. I think you get one domain for free if you sign up for their $3/month hosting plan too. Check it out! Good luck!

I don't think you'll find a hosting service that provides a top-level domain for free, that's something you're going to have to pay for.

If you're not too bothered about the domain, you could try a free service like Yahoo! GeoCities.
