"The Klan's first incarnation was in 1866, and was "directly linked with the Democratic Party, which likewise championed a return of near-servile status to emancipated blacks"[1]. Founded by veterans of the Confederate Army, its main purpose was to resist Reconstruction, and it focused as much on intimidating "carpetbaggers" and "scalawags" as on putting down the freed slaves. It quickly adopted violent methods."
They also seem to like drawing swastikas.

The original Ku Klux Klan was first established in Pulaski, Tennessee after the end of the American Civil War on December 24, 1865 by Confederate veterans. It grew to prominence after a convention held in Nashville in the summer of 1866. At this convention, Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest presided as the Grand Wizard.
The main goal of the Klan was to fight Congressional Reconstruction. During the Reconstruction the South was undergoing drastic changes to its social and political life. Whites saw this as a threat to their supremacy as a race and sought to end this process. Due to Congress enacting laws that promoted racial equality, southern whites could not turn to the law in order to regain their power through the Democratic Party. In addition, the Klan sought to control the political and social status of the freed slaves. More specifically, it attempted to curb black education, economic advancement, and voting rights. Violence came to be seen as the best way to accomplish their goals. However, the Klan's violence was not limited to African Americans; Southern Republicans also became the target of vicious intimidation tactics. The Klan became the violent arm of the Democratic Party. As federal control of the ex-Confederate states was withdrawn, the local white population re-established their power and with it segregation laws.

Your confused and need to do more research instead of labeling. I guess your point is valid except you are pointing the finger at the wrong party. The Republican party in the 1860's became what we now know as the Democratic party. It was actually your ideology that supported the KKK. Get your facts straight

Wow. You can't even cut-and-paste quote without distorting it to suit your own hate-based agenda.
From the link you cited: "The Klan's first incarnation was in 1866. Founded by veterans of the Confederate Army, its main purpose was to resist Reconstruction".
What was the Democratic party in the 1860s became the platform of the Republican party in the 1960s, after the Democrats shifted to encompass the liberal movement in the 1920s and 1930s.
So, history doesn't say any such thing, unless you (as usual) take statements completely out of context.

Ok, Ill bite, as a democrat, I haven't researched the KKK because this day and age there is no need to. There are more black members of the KKK today than there are Republicans in office, so its a rather mute point, but in the same instance is it not the Republicans who branded all Islams terrorists? So I guess both parties are equally as wrong, and you have no real room to bring that point up.

They were Southern Democrats who were Democrats because Lincoln was a Republican. They were CONSERVATIVE Democrats who often voted with the Republicans, they lasted into the latter part of the 20th Century until many just converted to being Republicans.
For example, Strom Thurmond was a Democrat, then a "Dixiecrat" then a Republican.

Yes they did. However, the two parties have since switched sides in politics (switched around in approximately 1948). The Democrat party that founded the KKK no longer exists, and has been replaced with the Republican party of today (though I don't think the majority of them are racist, they just don't care).

Southern Democrats would be a more apt name for the party at that time. They have since morphed into Republicans, of course.
But why quibble over historical accuracy when ignorance is so much more fun?
