I have been wanting to learn how to play the guitar for some time now so I gave in an ordered one. I am just curious how your outcome was with his teaching methods.

If not do you know of any other GOOD teaching books or methods

Good for you. Learning to play an instrument is the best thing you can do. Now that you have a feel for it, contact your local school board for night school classes on beginner guitar. After that, go back and do the Estaban thing again. Then take some intermediate lessons and then find some people to play music with.
It only gets better from here.

The way I learned to play was: Get a book of chords, learn all the major, minors, and 7ths. They are used the most in music. Then start to use the chords you learned with the radio or a cd. This way you can learn to play any style of music you please. The video I'm sure is good, but don't substitute that for trial and error. Nobody wants to play only one artists songs all the time. By trying to learn by yourself, you can play any style you please. It just takes a whole lot longer than watching a video and playing what you see. It takes a whole lot longer, but in the end I think you will be more pleased by playing if you learn yourself and not rely on only a video to teach you.
