I am trying to buy my son an apple ipod video for his bday. I found some on ebay that are a special edition u2 ones. Most of them come from china and hong kong and are almost 3/4 LESS than the ones sold in the states, most of the sellers have 10 or less feedback and most of those are from buying not selling. I feel like there is something fishy with theese auctions but I cant find anything out, I dont want to get ripped off. Does anyone know anything about this or how I can find out more? Please help, I really dont know what to do. Thanks.

if you checked their ratings and see that they don't have that much credentials, be cautious. i'm not saying they will rip you off, but it's better to be on the safe side. if you are worried about getting ripped off, you should make sure that the seller uses paypal. in that way, you can report them if they don't send the item to you and paypal will get your money back. i suggest that you go to an authorized reseller, since you won't have a clue if the ipod they are selling have already been tampered with.

I would caution against buying from sellers that are based outside the U.S. On eBay, you should look at sellers rating, and the percentage next to it as a measure of trustworthiness. I would stay away from recent members, or members with less than 95% seller rating. This is not to say that there are no trustworthy sellers from outside the U.S. However, you are adding another layer of potential problems to your transaction.

Regardless of your decision, I would only buy from a seller that uses PayPal as payment. FYI, eBay will protect your purchase up to $250, so you do have some protection. NEVER ever reveal your banking information or passwords to sellers. Good luck and enjoy your purchase.

I have just started to buy from eBay myself. I wouldn't buy from no one who has less then 20-30 positive feedback's from selling not from buying. Beware... Also, there is an area where you can see if they are offering anything else to sell. See if they are offering anything else. Read the feedback's he/she has to see what they say. Do they have any negative ones and why? I wouldn't buy unless they have pay pal either. Also when your looking to bid on an item, from out of the U.S. especially, make sure you know how much the shipping is going to cost you. Because you might think your getting a deal until you add it all up. Just watch and be very careful. I personally wouldn't buy from them and I would keep looking. Happy shopping

I suggest that if you want to do it, make sure it is paid for through pay pal. This is the most secure and easy way to pay. and if they rip you off, paypal can get you the money back.
I always avoid foreign sellers, but if they have positive feedback, then they can be a good idea.

Just make sure you dont settle for less - ALWAYS USE PAYPAL!

well i think you answered this query yourself.

always go to sellers with much more feedback and reputation.

not all things from china are questionable but... if you got to blow the dough either get it from the manufacterer or someone more reputable.

ebay.com is great but you really got to watch out.

don't buy from those.... move along, find another source.

Don't buy from them unless they have at least 20 positive (seller) feedbacks
