I had mine done with both parents approval when I was 14. I'm now 29.

My aunt had got one and I liked how it looked so I asked my mom and she took me. Maybe under the age of 12 is too soon but I see no problem with it. I've had several other piercings done over the years.

Your wife should have talked to you about it but as long as your daughter is a good kid then there is not much of an issue in her having it.

Uhm... what's your issue against piercings? Is it because the bible says it's wrong? You know the part about piercings is right next to the part about women not ever being able to enter the church of god lest they go to hell right?

She's 12, she got a piercing. Good for her. Maybe she'll have 40 by the time she's 21. Maybe she'll get it ripped out in a kids game, realize they're stupid and pointless, and not get any more.

The point is - you can tell her whatever you want, but she's gotta learn the lessons herself. When it comes to who "shes going to be" in this world - parents can only watch and adviced by giving examples in their life (and explaining why); WHEN ASKED.

When it comes to "should I do this??" - that's when a parent has the only key that a kid can understand. Should I smoke? Should I do drugs? Should I drink? Should I have sex with him? They won't ask you those, but if you pay close attention, you'll know they're asking for advice by circumventing the issue.

Anyway, it's just a piercing. This will probably be the first year and maybe even last year were she's the popular kid in school. Let her enjoy her life, it's not affecting yours, anyway.

I think 15-17 is good... with parental permission that is. If the mother said yes, then you can't really get mad at the kid- they got permission. I'd take it up with the mother and worse case scenario...the piercing is taken out and closes up. It could be worse... like a tatoo or pregnancy!

i got mine done when i was 16. my mom took me to a good piercing shop to get it done.

at 12 her body is still growing, piercing something isn't the best idea when that's happening.

just keep telling her it looks like a booger hanging on her nose and she will remove it sooner or later...but body peircing should wait until at least 18

In some cultures they do it even earlier......Sounds like the real problem is the fact that your wife gave permission without discussing it with you first. That I would have a bigger issue with.
