Sometimes rabbits can have a false pregnancy. They will nest as though they are preparing for the babies but then never have any. If she will let you, you should be able to gently feel along her sides and belly to see if she feels pregnant. A rabbit's gestation period is only about 31 days, so if she has had fur in her nesting box for longer than that, then she is probably not going to have babies. I do not know the answer to your mating question, sorry. Perhaps you can put the two together and see what happens. I guess the one thing I would think about is the male a great deal smaller than the female? If so, he may not be able to impregnate her. My grandma raised rabbits when I was growing up and they never saw a vet. We have had pet rabbits off and on over the years and have never taken them to a vet either. I did just find out recently that rabbits can be spayed and neutered like dogs and cats. It may be something to consider as I also discovered that the number of abandoned rabbits is overwhelming to the shelters and rescue organizations. Too many cute little Easter bunnies aren't so cute any more after a few months and they are released to the wild (where they can't survive) or given to shelters (where they are euthanized if a rescue can't take them).

Yes, the two you described can breed. Now, the female could still have problems having the babies and die in labor. If you see blood then you need to take it to the vet or else the rabbit and the babies will die.
