the temperature gage is going over to hot, but the engine is not over heating, and when I am driving the temperature gage comes back to normal and stays there, and the cooling fan comes on a little bit late from the normal set time, what could this be?

You probably need to replace the thermostat. This is a valve inside the coolant line that controls the temperature at which the coolant starts to flow through the radiator (it's not based on a set time). It sounds like the thermostat is sticking. The engine can run hotter than normal without 'overheating'. Take it to your mechanic and explain the problem.

normal fan operation is on at 224 and off at about 200, if your gauge is going over that then you either have a defective gauge sending unit, a defective fan temp sensor or the engine is overheating and have it looked at. there is also a possibility that you have a 2 speed fan and the low speed is burnt out and if you run the ac it will run hot
