Sometimes, though most intelligent people can see even my own line of questioning has humor or meaning, though they can at times be provocative.
There are areas where I feel we have been taught to watch our words that we shouldn't.

It depends on the situation and to the person whom i am speaking. If you think what you are doing is right might be "offending"some one else.In friends group if you speak out frankly against what they are doing or talking, they might take it as "offending".But you might have said for self improvement.Sometime's you might be offending others without your knowledge.Like not greeting when wished, you might have been busy in your own thoughts. Its also offending. When you do the same thing deliberately as to let them know of what you think of them its also "offending".
Sometimes to let the other person get your message you have to act in such a manner that he gets your message loud and clear. This might be "offending"to them but there is always a limit for tolerance. If you are silent and dont react it sneds a wrong signak to them, which in turn leads to further complications. So instead if you are quick to react and speak in firm tone, even if the other person thinks its "offending",no problem. When he does certain things which you think is "offending" and continues to do so,there is no reason you should not pay him back in his own coin.Do what is right, dont think "offending" is going to change certain people.May be they will change in the "offending"way.Dont worry."offending"is in own's mind and how they look at to the situation. Medicine may be bitter, but its the result that you must see.So "offending" so as to proove a point is better than to remain silent.

i am.. because people are emotional beings. it's hard to separate truth and logic from emotions.....i myself am fairly sensitive, and therefore try my best not to offend others. but i don't keep my mouth shut and not share my opinion...however i feel that it is of Extreme importance to try to understand the situation in someone else's shoes, because it can completely change if u know more information.
for example, u are talking to a friend, if u knew that her grandma died, u wouldn't go off about how your grandma is awesome, or old people are annoying, or anything that is "offensive" to that person.
that is why, in situations of strangers, people u don't know, etc etc, it can be conducive for all to watch what u say, be somewhat careful of who's toes u step on. u can't always be right, or walk on eggshells. but u can try..and hopefully others know and respect that, and can forgive u if u make a mistake, and appreciate when u do ur best to be unoffensive.

Offense is in the eye of the beholder. I think there are some people that do go out of their way to shock and or offend but I try to keep my language in-offensive and do not dress to get attention...just generally to to be polite and decent. The "screw you" attitude is what some find offensive. I just ignore those types.

No because I have learned that as often as I try not to offend, I end up offending none-the-less.
So I ended up realizing that the very thing that offends others is the thing that makes me different and often times - respected.

Not anymore. Seems that EVERONE is OFFENDED by EVERYONE. So, it doesn't matter anymore. If someone is offended because I wish them a MERRY CHRISTMAS, that is THEIR problem, NOT mine. If someone is OFFENDED by my praying in public before a meal, that is THEIR problem, NOT mine.
If someone is offended because I call a terrorist Tony Towelhead, too bad, so sad.
I've HAD it with the ACLU types and the "political correct" types.
Got an issue? Here's a tissue.

No. People have got a habit of carrying a chip on their shoulders. They want to be offended.
