with todays technology and tv voting etc we only need a key pad to vote yes or no wich is basically all they do. save the country a fortune.

I assume you dont understand the first thing about Democracy then..

Can you imagine what Britain would be like if Politics if trivialised to the level iof a big brother vote? Chaos, Awful and contradictory laws and political quagmire.

MP's do so much more then just vote 'Yes' or No'. MP's discuss the views of their constituents, they question government, they interact with other local MP's, all crucial to the running of a directly accountable democracy

Firstly it is M.P or at worst MPs.
This is the answer to your question. People who have the ability to vote on important issues without consulting specialists and deliberating ethics by the touch of a button would be the worst people to entrust.
Politicians do tend to understand politics morethan most, just take a look at a day on YA, the ill thought out answers and questions show you that referenda on every subject would be very scary.
This is not what democracy is all about.

we are meant to live in a democracy, but we don't we live in a a voted dictatorship, people are fooled tho, cos the leader are called tony Blair, not Saddam etc

I say do away with Parliament give power back to the Queen, she can't do any worse.
