i never have cash on me. If a place does not take a card i just don't purchase there. I pay all my bills on line or over the phone. i even go to movie theaters where they take my debit card and i have stopped going to places that don't take it yet. Will money be obsolete soon?
there is basically very few places/ industries that still do only cash

As long as there are schools and teens.. I think we are going to have cash around. Mine sure is sucking the dollars out of me every week for something the school "requires"!

Eventually, I do think most businesses will find the plastic is more easily used and resort to using it more and more but in our lifetime (at least mine) I don't think paper money will go away.

I do all. Not yet there are some snags to work out. Like what kids could use yes they can get an atm cards but not usually with an visa or mastercard symbol. How you would purchase lottery tickets, money orders, Casinos chips, pay bills if you do not have the internet. (Most states do not allow this type of purchase with debit or credit cards) In my area there is some places that use cash only. Banks would also need to stop charging for point of sale transaction. Some State laws prevent this. Not everyone can get a bank account yet.

I've thought about this too and it is a little scary because then we all become so dependent on the companies that supply these cards. I think about the Handmaid's Tale- a book I read about 10 years ago or so. In it, women's bank cards were put into the control of their husband's and could be turned on and off at any time. People were controlled that way. hat would happen if cash became obsolete and we couldn't save $ in our mattresses and coffee cans? We would be under complete control. Still, even when I think about these things, I pull out my debit card and slide away because it is so easy to do.....

I think cash will still be around for awhile. If your friend asks you to loan him $5, you can't just give him a credit card. Also, some places have a minimum amount you have to buy before you can use a credit/debit card.

NO - I never carry cash with me either but I don't think cash will not exist someday. Cash is so symbolic. Eventhough we have so many things like credit, debit, and gift cards, cash will always be something that people love to have in their hands.

I don't carry cash on my either and we have been moving toward a cash less society for years now. Does not bother me, I don't have that much cash anyway.

They are trying to move us towards a cash-less society, which I think is awful... just another way the government tries to control every aspect of our lives.

Would you believe at our local grocery store (Jewel... in the Midwest) they have the finger-scan system in place so that you can just scan your finger and pay that way? RIDICULOUS!
