Yeah leave it alone and don't touch it. Don't take it out. I'd only clean it 2-3 times a week, over cleaning will dry it out.
Do NOT take it out to clean it.
Wash your hands and put some earring cleaner (like what they gave you when they pierced) or Alcohol on a q-tip.
Other than that, leave it alone and the swelling will go down.

yes this has happened to me before... it's probably damaged and may be infected.... what you need to do is go to the drug store and buy some epsom salts, or go to the health food store and buy some sea salt... i reccommend the sea salt... then what you do is put about 3 tablespoons of the salt into a drinking glass, then fill the glass up with hot water (hot enough, that your skin can touch it, but as hot as you can stand)... stir up the concoxion... then put it on the table near the edge with paper towels under it, sit down on a chair and put bend ur head to the side so you can rest your ear in the glass just like it was a pillow, make sure that your ear is fully submerged in the solution... sit w/ your ear soaking in the water for 20 mins, then swivel the jewellery around and rinse with warm tap water, because there may be pus on the jewellery and u want that off. doing this will get rid of your infection and radically speed up the healing process. continue to do this once a day until it is healed... avoid touching your ear unless u've washed your hands with antibacterial soap

You really need to take that earring out and clean your ear and the ring. Get some antibiotic ointment for your ear. It sounds more infected than anything. If it hasn't healed in 3 months, that may be why. A good new ring with ointment will help it heal.

Check with the store that did the piercing. They should have some sort of preparation, sprays and creams, to help your ear heal.

If you are cleaning it good, then your problem might be with the earing itself.you may be allergic to it.Try gold earings,or surgical steel.I had my belly button peirced and after a year it still wouldn't heal,I finally gave up after a while and let it grow back, then I had alot of people tell me it was my belly ring.I am allergic to any kind but gold.As so for my ears.

you really dont want the area to become infected so avoid touching it with your fingers unless you wash them really well beforehand.
you might wanna apply something cold (ice pack in a facecloth)to try to reduce the swelling but if your entire ear is badly swollen you should visit your doctor pretty soon.
people can die from infected piercings so dont let it get out of hand.

Yeah I had that. Don't put alcohol on it because it will start to close your hole. Clean it out with salt water and give it time. Time will heal it. Try your best not to sleep on that side for a while!

when i got my belly button pierced 8 years ago, the guy who did it told me to use this face cleaner/astringent called sea breeze. he said as long as i cleaned my belly button and the ring with it that it would never get infected and it never has. so maybe you should try some. you can find it at walmart or any drug store.

I'd suggest just sterilizing it with alcohol or peroxide and other than that let it chill.
