Possibly whoever set up the account gave the wrong number. I did that when I set my sons up (messed 2 of the numbers) but I noticed a week later and fixed it. If nobody noticed it would stay like that till fixed.

I don't know about where you could get this info for free. But if no one seems to know whose it is, I think I would be taking it off the account. You may have to provide the bank with proper id. Then I think I would make a trip to the Social Security office or go online and request info on that number. Sounds like some fraud may be involved. I don't think the cost is that much, I'm thinking maybe $13. is ringing a bell for me. Good Luck and get that number off your account asap.

You won't find that on-line. You should contact your local Social Security office. You should plan on making an appointment and making this right. You will want to bring your identification and as much paperwork that you have on this case.
It isn't the other person that you need to know anything about, it's YOU. Make sure that your records with the Social Security office is correct.

Sounds like they gave you the wrong account. Check with the bank, and make sure they have the right one. There could be 2 or 3 people with the same name as yours.

I could find out, just put a name in and run a "Free Credit Check" online...
On the back page of the report you are going to see *Fraud Alert* and the real name that should be associated with the number is going to be listed...
Use "John Smith" + SSN
Get report
Turn to back page and find the name that should go with number.

No. Social Security numbers cannot be matched up with people on any website. Nor would you want them to be. If someone could find out who YOU were that way, would you want that????

If it's on your bank account, couldn't you ask the bank who's the number belongs to?

Possibly the kid's? They can get them at a very early age.
In any case, you can notify the social security administration
of the situation, but they'll probably just tell you to remove the
number.
It is UNLIKELY that they will tell you who is associated with it
unless that person is clearly your kid.
