Kathy has been directing plays for theatre lately, her latest inspiration was called Smaller (Feb - May 2006) This play was written by: Carmel Morgan at the Milton Keynes Theatre adding the Theatre Royal in Brighton; and Alexandra Theatre, Birmingham; it was also to be seen at the Lyric Theatre in London but for some reason or another this never occurred.

Smaller is a musical play and tells the story of Bernice Clulow (Dawn French), a teacher and the life and soul of the staff room, who looks after her disabled mother Maureen, with some difficulty. Bernice's sister, Cath (Alison Moyet) wanted to be a singer but has found herself singing karaoke for hen parties on the Costa del Sol. Over the course of the play, the two sisters are forced to face their own guilt, resentment and fear.

You can read the reviews in the following newspapers, but take note the play was slated to be dull and too slow, but the directing was to perfection in Kathy's case:
Coventry Evening Standard | The Sunday Times | The Guardian | The Telegraph | The Stage | Financial Times

Other than directing Kathy's appearances seem to be thin threaded due to the lack of demand, however its noted that we haven't seen the last of her.

Make sure you read her biography it gives good insight to Kathy in all aspects of her life...

After appearing in the play 'Smaller' with Dawn French and Alison Moyet, which ended in May this year, Kathy has gone back to directing which she took up three years ago.

Burke has now directed seven plays. Last year she had her biggest success to date with the Oxford Stage Company's touring production of Brendan Behan's The Quare Fellow.

Now she is directing her eighth, and third at Hampstead. Love Me Tonight, by Nick Stafford, is a four-hander about a family who have just buried their youngest member. As they drink and reminisce and squabble after the funeral, each one inspects the entrails of their lives for a lost happiness. When Stafford first sent Burke the play, she "really didn't like the children in it. I just thought they were selfish and needed a good slap."

Directing (theatre mainly) and the odd voice over. She says she isn't going to act again, hope she changes her mind.
